Opinion: APC, Nigeria and the excuse of 16 years

By: Robinson Sibe

The APC is fixated on the 16 years of PDP rule as the reason for non-performance. What they don’t realize is that we are used to the number: 16 Gregorian calendar years.

The PDP inherited a nation bastardized by 16 years of despotic military rule (1983-99); including that ruled by the incumbent. That 16 is at the heart of our failure as a nation.

I had several things I didn’t like about the Obasanjo Government, but one thing they got right, was to look ahead, rather than behind. He didn’t spend his tenure lamenting about Generals Abubakar, Abacha, IBB and Buhari. It’s the reason that regime grew the GDP by 2-digits in 2 years.

We are not new to “16 years” theory. Can the APC wake up and smell the coffee. This 16 years hung is sounding like a broken record. Look for another reason, not 16 years you were part and parcel of.

Today, I sympathized with Asiwaju, who said the 16 years of PDP was a mess, yet praised the two Governors that ruled Akwa IBOM State within the period. What a sin thing! ?

16 weak excuses! Go do a crash course on Strategic Communication.
