The Idoma Daughters and Wives Association (IDWA) recently executed their annual trail blazing activities around Otukpo with some major projects.
First was the commissioning of a renovated water well at Egwanokwu settlement on the Ohimini LGA stretch of the busy Otukpo–Abuja road. Considering the importance of water to life, and the hardship usually experienced by the residents of the area, the well occupies a special place in the development of that Community.
From Egwanokwu, IDWA moved to the General Hospital (being converted to the Teaching Hospital of the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo, FUHSO). There they graciously donated a wheelchair, bedsheets, and toiletries to the maternity ward.
As part of IDWA activities for the year 2022, the IDWA Teens Team was officially inaugurated and paid a courtesy call on Och’Idoma V, HRM John Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji.
IDWA then moved over to the famous St Mary’s Primary School Otukpo, where the Ladies in Red commissioned a five-room block of classrooms dedicated to the memories of late Chief Mrs Ifeinwa Bongos Ikwue. The wife of the living musical legend was the premier Home Coordinator of IDWA and immensely contributed to the coming into existence of the Association. The building in her honor was unveiled by the wife of Och’Idoma V in the glorified presence of her husband, Chief Bongos Ikwue.
Perhaps the singular obsession that seems to stand IDWA out clearly among other such Organizations is their demonstrated concern for the future of Idoma youths. To this end, an annual Youth Camp had been established in 2021 with the sole aim of bringing youths from across the nine LGAs of Idomaland together to interact, share ideas and institute love for each other across board, as well as build self confidence as a preparatory social condition for integrating successfully in a globalized technologically driven modern world. All these, under the keen supervision of IDWA officials and acclaimed motivational speakers.
At the recent IDWA organized Youth Camp which took place at Double K Resort, Otukpo, one of the speeches to the young ones was a motivational talk given by American trained erudite speaker, Emmanuel Ogwuche, who, in a catchy, very interactive session, took the youths through the process of acheiving success in life, in a talk appropriately titled “YOU CAN BE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE.”
As many of the young ones in the Double K spacious Conference Hall gaped at the Speaker with rapt attention, Mr Ogwuche referenced the success stories of greats such as Ben Carson, late Chief MKO Abiola, and Chief Maduka(Elizade), to demonstrate that success only comes out of determination, spirit of never quitting, connection to God through prayers, hard work, mentorship, as well as self confidence and networking.
*The motivational talk by Emma Ogwuche was so enlightening that he was given a standing ovation at the end of it. IDWA should make copies and distribute to all Senior Secondary School students to adequately prepare their minds for the future.*

IDWA has been engaging in especially youth development projects which other Idoma socioculturally inclined Organizations need to cue into for the overall development of the society.
