Opinion: Ortom and his political schemes in Benue

By Terfa Naswem

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom is a very smart politician. Since the history of Benue politics, he is the smartest politician BENUE State has ever produced. He knows how and when to penetrate the minds of the ignoramuses in Benue State who are not only gullible but strong-willed to swim in ignorance and negligence to his political schemes.

I understand this man comprehensively in many ways to be deceived or overwhelmed by his antics.

He has already begun his political schemes ahead of 2023 senatorial election in Zone B. He is still exploring many self-centered alternatives to confuse and get enormous support from the people of Zone B to still find his way through.

Before the 2019 general election, he said he was the defender of Benue Valley, a self-acclaimed title. After the election and recently, he said he is no longer the defender of Benue Valley but God is.

This is another sign of his usual way to try to confuse the gullible Benue people that he believes in God so they should support and vote him to become a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Well, Sen. Orker Jev might surely defect to APC, that one is certain only if Ortom insists on getting the senatorial ticket on the platform of PDP which he will surely do.

Jev knows that if he loses the ticket to Ortom and still remains in PDP, Ortom will have nothing to compensate him since he has no national influence to get him juicy appointment at the national level. After analysing this, Jev will prefer to defect to APC so that even if he loses the election to Ortom, he will surely be compensated at the national level since Akume is in the presidency.

With the effectiveness of Jev’s representation, if he defects to APC, most of his supporters will go with him to APC and coupled with those who already love him but are still in APC including the political gladiators in APC, it will surely not be business as usual for the schemer Ortom.

Jev is a very wise man. Since he won the senatorial election, despite how his supporters in PDP jubilated by singing the ASHABUGU song, he refused to partake in it. He also refused to say anything against Akume. He even said that inspite of all that happened, Akume remains his boss. He saw it coming that Ortom, if he survives the electoral cases against him, would contest the 2023 senatorial election against him on the platform of PDP so he began his political permutations and saw that he would still need Akume’s support in future when he defects to APC.

Time shall tell!
