Ortom ignores proposal to organise ‘heroic’ welcome for Benue son riding bicycle from Ibadan to Makurdi
By Amedu James
Barely any last minute change of mind, Sekav Isaac may end up embarking on a fruitless journey as the state government is not ready to give him any special attention upon his arrival, IDOMA VOICE can authoritatively report.
Recall that Isaac, who passed out 4th of November 2016, began his tour on the 5th of November, 2016. He earlier announced that he will be embarking on a “Patriotic Tour” from Ibadan to Makurdi on bicycle.
According to Isaac, an ex-student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAM), the idea is, he believes he can ride a bicycle from Ibadan to MAKURDI, due to the economic hardship the country is facing.
This 14 days tour, according to him, is to show to Nigerians and the world over that, Nigerians can only survive and avoid the current hardship only by HARDWORK, BELIEF, PERSEVERANCE, AND DETERMINATION.
However, the cyclist, who is already on the soil of Benue, might not be welcomed by the state government as the state governor insisted there was no need for any party as his journey was ‘irrelevant’.
Our reporter gathered that when some friends of the young man approached the governor through his Chief of Staff, with the proposal that a welcome party should be organized upon his arrival in the school, the governor claimed due to the economic situation, he might not provide necessary fund for the party.
“No need! No need for that,” he repeatedly told them.
Meanwhile, friends and ex-mates of Isaac have already planned to welcome him upon his arrival in Makurdi.
Our source said the friends would be waiting for him in Apir, some kilometers away from the state capital.
The young man was spotted around Adoka polytechnic, in Otukpo on Monday.
