Ortom inaugurated as PDP Board of Trustees member

The immediate past Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, was on Monday officially inaugurated as a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ortom, who will represent Benue State on the party’s highest advisory body, joins the BoT at a critical time as the PDP intensifies efforts to reposition itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His inclusion in the BoT underscores his sustained influence within the party’s national hierarchy, particularly as a close political ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Both Ortom and Wike played key roles in the G-5 Governors, also known as the Integrity Group, which openly opposed the PDP’s zoning arrangement in the lead-up to the 2023 elections.
The BoT meeting, which marked Ortom’s formal induction, was presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum.
Also present were PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, BoT Secretary and former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, along with several prominent former governors including Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal, Sule Lamido, Udom Emmanuel, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Seriake Dickson, Babangida Aliyu, and Adamu Muazu.
