Ortom removes Suswam’s picture from past Benue governors’ photo gallery

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has cried out over what it calls an attempt by Gover Samuel Ortom to erase
the face and identity of his predecessor, Dr Gabriel Suswam, from projects the latter executed in the state.

The party made this known in a statement distributed to the media by the state publicity secretary of the PDP in Benue state, Bemgba Iortyom.
The PDP alleged that Suswam’s name has been removed from the memorial plaque of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital.

Part of the statement read:

“It has been confirmed to us that the photograph of former Governor Gabriel Suswam has been removed from amongst those of other past governors.

“We totally condemn this development as indecent, pedestrian and a primitive exhibition of ill-will by Governor Ortom towards his predecessor, Governor Suswam, and we are at great pains to observe that nowhere else in this country is such behaviour to be found in this age.”

The PDP warned that it will not accept what the party described as

“its proud legacy of stewardship over sixteen years be deliberately undermined.”

“We therefore, demand the immediate re-installation of all such removed identity marks as we have observed and pointed out. This we demand as a matter of right,” the statement concluded.

The state government was yet to respond to the allegation as at the time of this report.
