Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom on Thursday inaugurated 23 Sole Administrators to manage the affairs of the local governments pending the elections of chairmen and councillors slated for June 3.
Ortom, in a brief speech at the ceremony, tasked the sole administrators on good governance, accountability and transparency and also emphasised the need to render selfless service to people at the grassroots.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr Benson Abounu, Ortom advised the officials to consult relevant stakeholders while focusing on people-oriented programmes.
He cautioned them against traveling out of their areas without seeking permission to do so.
The governor advised the sole administrators to be prudent in view of dwindling resources from the federal purse, and encouraged them to adopt measures to improve Internally Generated Revenue.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Sole Administrator of Guma Local Government, Mr Joseph Apera, thanked Gov. Ortom for the opportunity to serve, and promised to work hard to justify such confidence.
