There is palpable tension and fear among members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State over the impending court’s verdict on the controversy surrounding the election of Governor Samuel Ortom in 2019.
Ortom was declared winner of the 2019 governorship election, but Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had approached the court to challenge his victory.
The Tribunal and Appeal Court had in 2019 thrown out the petition of Jime on the ground that it lacked merit.
Jime, who was dissatisfied with the lower court’s separate verdicts; approached the apex court to seek redress. Meanwhile, the case is yet to the determined.
However, there is currently tension in the camp of the incumbent governor following then removal of Ortom’s party man in Imo, Emeka Ihedioha by the Supreme Court.
The apex court had in a controversial judegment delivered on Tuesday, declared Hope Uzodimma of the APC winner of the election, which the former came fourth.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that following the judegment, some appointees of the governor had resorted to prayer so the “cup could pass over their principal.”
Ortom has been at loggerheads with the federal government following his approval of the anti-grazing law in Benue State.
There are feelers in town that the power that be; might want to ‘teach Ortom a lesson.’
Sources said some supporters and appointees held an all night prayers for the governor on Tuesday.
They prayer was led by a Makurdi-based cleric.
The governor’s appointees have been asked to take a fast on Wednesday and Thursday to pray for their principal.
