Ortom will pay Benue workers’ salaries when he recovers the money Suswam stole – APC chairman

Benue state Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Abba Yaro has dismissed with a wave of hand the insinuation that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP would recapture political governance in the state come 2019 saying APC will floor PDP in the next election.

Comrade Yaro in an interview with National Mirror in Makurdi disclosed that such insinuation are unfounded and that there is no iota of truth in it bearing in mind the divisions that have climaxed the hierarchy of the opposition PDP in the state and the country at large.

“Frankly speaking, let me reiterate here for the sake of record purposes, with divisions that appears to have disillusioned the hierarchy of the PDP with Sheriff faction on one hand and Ahmed Makarfi on the other hand , there is no way they can come back to power in Benue state talkless of the centre”, Yaro said.

The Party chieftain further said that for anybody dreaming of PDP coming to power by 2019 is just a mere dreaming, saying that will not be visible as long as the current trend in the party both in the state and federal still remain.

“For instance in the state, the party is polarized , King Abu Shuluwa has identified with Ali Modu Sheriff faction while former Deputy Governorship Candidate and state chairman of the party is said to have pitched tent with Sen. Ahmed Makarfi group.

“How possible is it that such a polarized party will clinch power by the ballot in 2019, that is not possible because of the sharp divisions that are trailing their party and their inability to resolve their differences”, Yaro said .

He dismissed the insinuation as huge joke and propaganda which is unsubstantiated saying that for a party that ruined the country’s economy in the last 16 years to come back and grapple power from the APC is not thinkable.

According to him “if anybody makes unbelievable accusation that the APC government has not performed, it is not true and unrealistic. If you could remember, former Governor Gabriel Suswam is indicted by Justice Elizabeth Kpojime’s Commission of Enquiry for embezzlement of N107 billion .”

“Given the peculiar situation if that money is recovered today, the present administration could have done well to pay salary arrears indebted by the previous administration as well as pension and gratuity. But despite all these odds, the government is trying with the meager resources that often comes from the usual allocation to do its best”

“So for those critics who doesn’t see anything good out of others to have vilified the Ortom administration for not doing well is a figment of their imagination as far as we are concerned, we are trying our best”, Yaro said.
