A tragic incident unfolded within the United Methodist Church when Reverend Oscar Mukahanana, the District Superintendent of Harare East in Zimbabwe, took his own life following the exposure of an adulterous scandal that had rocked the congregation. Reports suggest that Rev. Mukahanana had engaged in an extramarital affair with a young female member of the church.
The scandal came to light when an audio recording of a clandestine meeting and conversation between the Reverend and the lady in question was leaked on the church’s WhatsApp group. In the recording, he was heard expressing his satisfaction about their encounter, specifically mentioning their intimacy just before her menstrual cycle.
As the audio spread through the church’s WhatsApp network, Rev. Mukahanana became the subject of ridicule and mockery from his fellow church members. Some even went so far as to create memes that mocked the District Superintendent in connection with the adultery scandal.
Overwhelmed by humiliation and shame, Rev. Mukahanana tragically took his own life on a fateful Friday. In response to his untimely death, the UMC Harare District issued a statement, which read, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved District Superintendent, Rev. Oscar Mukahanana of the Harare East District. The Office of the Bishop will communicate further developments and funeral arrangements. As a church, we earnestly request your support for the Mukahanana family through your prayers during this difficult time.”
