Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has etched his name further into Nigerian football history, surpassing the legendary Segun Odegbami to become the country’s second-highest goal scorer of all time.
The milestone came on Friday evening during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali, where Osimhen found the net in the 11th minute.
Heading into the match, the Napoli loanee was tied with Odegbami at 23 goals. However, he moved ahead by scoring off a well-delivered free-kick cross from Ademola Lookman.
With this goal, the 26-year-old now has 24 international goals, trailing only the iconic Rashidi Yekini, who holds the all-time record with 37 goals for the Super Eagles.
