Former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has taunted Vice President Yemi Osinbajo over President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive regarding who the new ministers should approach to arrange for meetings with him.
Omokri said ministers will report to Abba Kyari; heads of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to Boss Mustapha; civil servants to Head of Service, Oyo Ita, while Osinbajo “reports to market women”.
Buhari had on Tuesday at the close of the two-day retreat organised for the new ministers, asked them to always go through Kyari for meeting requests and through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, for issues relating to the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Also on Wednesday, while inaugurating the ministers, he again said, “As I said yesterday (Tuesday), in terms of coordinating communication, kindly ensure that all submissions for my attention or meeting requests be channelled through the Chief of Staff while all Federal Executive Council matters are coordinated through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in order to speed up the process of decision-making.”
Reacting in a post on his Twitter handle, Omokri wrote:
“When they called you ‘ordinary commissioner’, I was angered! I defended you. But look at you today. Ministers report to Abba Kyari. Heads of MDA report to Boss Mustapha. Civil Servants report to Oyo Ita. While you report to market women! O ma she o!”
He added, “The Nigerian Constitution does not even recognise the Chief of Staff to the President. That office was created by Obasanjo as a purely discretionary office. Now, ministers, recognised by the constitution, will report to Kyari, who is not recognised!”
Though Omokri did not directly mention Osinbajo’s name, however, it is public knowledge that Osinbajo has been traversing the country, meeting market women to drive Buhari government’s Tradermoni project.
