The new “Richest People in Africa” list published by Forbes Magazine on Friday, has three Nigerians in the top 10.

Kano-born cement manufacturer, Aliko Dangote, retains his number one spot as the richest person in Africa with a net worth of $12.5b, for the 10th consecutive year.

Mike Adenuga of Globacom ($6.3bn), and Abdulsamad Rabiu of BUA Group ($5.5bn), both Nigerians, made it to the list as the 5th and 6th richest persons in Africa respectively.

However, IDOMA VOICE observed that famous Nigerian money-bags like Femi Otedola, Tony Elumelu were missing from the list.

Nigeria’s only female billionaire and former richest woman in Africa, Folorunsho Alakija, also didn’t make it to the top 10.

According to Forbes, the continent’s 18 billionaires were worth an average $4.1bn, 12 per cent more than a year ago, driven in part by Nigeria’s surging stock market.
