Otukpa ladies are expensive because they are educated, social – Och’Otukpa

The Och’Otukpa, HRH Sunday Oche Ekele JP, has explained why people think women from Otukpa, a district in Ogbadibo LGA, are expensive to marry.

The monarch was reacting to an uproar in different quarters about the high marriage expenses in Otukpa.

Speaking with IDOMA TV, the monarch said ladies from Otukpa are so well-behaved and highly cultured that any man who marries them will never regret it.

“Otukpa people are well-cultured, well-reoriented, and well-trained to be better wives in homes.

“When you train someone in such a manner, what do you expect? Just like items in the market that are well-designed, when you take such an item to the market, what do you expect the buyer to do? What do you expect the seller to do? It has to be sold at a high rate, isn’t it?

“But in the case of Otukpa, we don’t sell our daughters. We train them to be good housewives.

“And why are they saying Otukpa ladies are expensive? Expensive in the sense that when you get a lady from Otukpa, you can rest assured that she will adhere to your values. They’re educated, organized, and respectful of the culture and tradition of the Otukpa people.

“Any lady you have from here as a wife, I assure you, will give you the best.

“I don’t know how people feel about it because we’re talking about modernization today. You might think Otukpa ladies are expensive, but not at all.

“People are selected, and when you are marrying a wife, you should enquire about her background. That is why they say our ladies are expensive. They are not expensive; it’s just the value they represent.”
