Otukpo community volunteer gurads raids criminal hideout, recovers stolen goods worth millions of naira

The OTUKPO COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER GUARDS (Asa Beat), led by its chairman, Comrade Uloko George, on Monday, September 13th, 2021, following a tip off, raided the hideout of a suspected notorious criminal and recovered huge items worth millons of Naira from his residence at Ole’ena village, ASA; behind NTA office, Otukpo.

The suspect, Mr. Moses Godwin, in company of his elder brother, Mr. Michael Godwin, who has been terrorising residents of Otukpo and its environs, specialise in breaking into people’s homes and robbing them of their belongings. Luck however ran out of them when the team of the Asa Beat in company of their commander Comrade, Uloko George launched a manhunt for the kingpin, after a tip off, only to discover the uncompleted building which the suspects uses as a warehouse for their stolen items.

The suspect is said to have fled his home before the arrival of the security. His wife, Mrs. Queen Godwin, said she saw her husband last on Sunday evening, after a meeting with his friends at his residence. Mr. Michael Godwin, the kingpin’s elder brother and his sister were arrested and handed over to the Nigerian Police, Otukpo Division.

This latest discovery and arrest is coming on the heels of the Rt. Hon. George Alli-led administration’s drive to rid Otukpo and its environs of all forms of criminality by criminal elements. The administraton’s policy slongan which states that; “If you see something, say something”, has continued to elicit positive vibes from residents and has recorded tremendous success in the fight against crime in the town; leading to some arrests and reduction in crime. Residents have been assisting the police and other security agencies with useful information.

The Otukpo LG Boss, in his reaction to the development, gave Kudos to the Otukpo Community Volunteer Guards (Asa Beat) and the Police for the success of the raid. Alli urged residents of Otukpo Local Government to go about their businesses without fear and to report any suspicious movement around their environment to security agencies.

Recall that Since Hon. George Alli held an Expanded Security and Stakeholders Summit in Otukpo on June 30th 2021, there has been a relentless battle by his government to make Otukpo a difficult place for criminals to operate.
