Otukpo Cult killings: Scores Arrested, As Police Detained 12 At State CID, Makurdi

As investigation into the recent rival cult gang related killings in Otukpo continues, several persons were arrested by the Nigerian Police On Tuesday 30th October 2018, and 12 were detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (C.I.D), Ogiri Okoh road, Makurdi.

According to the Police, several persons were arrested at different locations in Otukpo, following tip off by some good spirited members of the public, as well as through the collaborative efforts by the Nigerian Police; the DSS; NSCDC; and Otukpo vigilant group. After the arrest thorough screening was conducted after which 12 persons were taken to state CID, Makurdi as investigation continues.

13 suspects were being transported to Makurdi in a chattered commercial bus when one of the suspect, Ngbede Achegbulu was said to have broken the side windows of the bus, jumped out and escaped into the bush. The police said hunt for the fleeing suspect is on the way.

Commenting on the matter, the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government, Rt. Hon. Chief George Alli said, “I am happy about this development. No responsibile government will fold it’s hand and watch people slaughtering one another like animals. There’s no option to peaceful coexistence. We won’t compromise our desires and need for peace. We will ensure that no innocent persons is punished over this incident, we still want to call on all parents and guardians to closely pay attention to their children”.

Reall that a clash by rival cult gangs in Otukpo on the night of Friday 26th October, 2018, left no fewer than 3 persons dead and one injured in Otukpo.

All urged Law-abiding citizens to go about their business without fear, saying governments is is working to ensure everyone’s safety.
