The Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. George Alli, over the weekend, was at the Otukpo main market to personally inspect the ongoing reconstruction works at the burnt section of the market.
Hon. Alli, simply decked in a green T-shirt on blue jeans with a blue sneaker to match, moved from shop to shop to be sure that the work is done to specification.
The Council Boss expressed satisfaction with not only the level of work done, but also the quality of work. Chief Alli’s presence at the site attracted some of the traders. They greeted and thanked him for his quick effort in reconstructing the shops.
The Chairman assured those whose shops were gutted by inferno last year at the market that their shops/land will be reallocated to them.
“The materials being used here are of high quality. From the high-quality blocks to the reinforced steel; each section of the shops is being created with a wider access road for vehicular movement, including big trucks. The shops will be roofed with decked concrete and very few combustible materials will be used, to prevent or minimise fire incidents. And in the event of a fire outbreak the fire will be confined against spreading to other shops”; Hon. Alli said.
