The Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Egli Johnson Ahubi has Friday January 1st, 2019 said that he doesn’t practice ‘winner takes all’ kinda politics.
Hon. Egli is the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency in 2019 made the statement while addressing supporters in Nwaba Eyokpa community in Ugboju, a surburb of Otukpo local government area.
Residents of the community lamented over the fact that they have been giving overwhelming support to politicians, yet they still don’t have anything to boast of not even electricity, good schools, water or access road even when their own son was the local government chairman for about ten years.
The Deputy Speaker while reacting to the people’s complaint assures them of a new experience if elected come February 16th.
According to him: “It’s sad that some persons consider public offices as avenue for personal enrichment. So far, so good I’ve been rated by my people as the best state Assembly legislator so far. If you go to Akpa in Otukpo today, they call me ”our Honourable oooooh”, no just for the title but because of what I have been able to put in place there, I built a standard 6 class room block in Odonko, was the person who electrified Adim Akpa, Akpachi village in Otukpo, I gave transformers to more than a dozen community in constituency.
“I don’t practice winner takes all kinda politics because I want my name to be written down in the history of the Idoma nation, Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.
“I’m presently building a clinic in Upu Otukpo, I have an empowerment programme that disburse sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers, motorcycles to my constituents.
“During every farmers season, I disburse fertilizers and herbicides to my people. I extended this gesture to the entire Otukpo local government and Ohimini in the last one year.
“I don’t make promises to people but I know for sure how to solve their problems. I have facilitated the employment of two Ugboju sons who are presently working with me under the Benue State government.
“I can beat my chest today of not having any investments outside the state or the country. This is also because I believe in our land unlike other politicians. No matter how bad politicians are, the are still a few good ones and I think I’m one of them. Anyone who doubt this can check my track records and anticidents.
“It’s no longer news that things changed for the worse in the country since 2015 because of the support we gave to APC who promised our people heaven but landed them in a hell-like situation. Please we should not repeat that mistake ever again. We the PDP have learned our lessons and ready to serve you better, so I’m charging all of us to vote Atiku/Obi for President, Abba Moro for Senate and Egli Johnson Ahubi for House of Representatives on the 16th of this month.
” In the same spirit, I want us to vote for Governor Ortom/Abounu and Hon. Mike Audu for Adoka/Ugboju state Assembly position respectively.
“Disregard anyone who come to Campaign here, who was once in the position to help you but did nothing but wants you to vote for their wife. They had the capacity to do give you electricity, good roads and every other basic amenities but choose to use the money for that project to build a hospital in Abuja. Please vote wisely.” He added.
