It has come to the knowledge of Distinguished Senator Abba Moro, the Senator representing the good people of Benue South Senatorial District, that some youths of his constituency are planning to stage a peaceful protest in Otukpo on Saturday, 24th October, 2020, to make certain demands.
The Senator acknowledges the fact that in democratic societies all over the world, citizens have the right to protest to express their grievances and make demands from government on issues that are germane to their wellbeing.
He, however, appeals to the organizers of the planned protest to be on the watch out, to ensure that the protest is carried out in a peaceful and orderly manner, that the rights of other persons not involved are not infringed upon, and violence is not allowed to creep in.
The Senator notes that it will not be in the interest of Benue South to allow the protest to degenerate into violence, as is being experienced in some parts of the country, leading to destruction of lives and properties.
Comrade Moro says youths of Benue South are very dear to his heart and will continue to do everything within his powers to be there for them at all times.
