The clan head of Agbo Ogiri, Chief John Ameh Onuh, has bemoaned the refusal of the people of the area to comply with the recent order by the Och’Idoma regarding burial and marriage in Idoma land.

Idoma VOICE recalls that the Idoma Area Traditional Council, through HRM Agabaidu Elaigwu Odogbo, Och’Idoma the fifth, had unified and fixed the traditional bride price at N50,000 only.

The traditional council also expunged the imposition of costly prescriptions, stipulations and requirements on the bereaved family for the burial rites of a deceased person in Idoma land.

The monarch also announced that women should be buried in their husband’s houses when they die.

Speaking with Idoma TV, Chief Onuh lamented that the people of the area are not complying with the directive despite countless enlightenments and advice.

Chief Onuh also urged the state and federal governments to help rehabilitate some dilapidated roads in Owukpa.
