The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar, has come under heavy fire after he referred to citizens from South Eastern Nigeria as ”Biafran boys” in an official statement.
Nigerians took to social media to register their disappointments over the CCT Chairman’s comment.
Read some of the reactions below;
Aisha Yesufu wrote; “Chairman of the Code of Conduct tribunal refers to citizens as Biafran Boys? This is the height of it!
Justice Danladi Umar needs to be removed from office! He has shown his bias and his position requires neutrality
#WeAreAllBiafrans.”
Sandra Ezekwesili wrote; “Biafran boys in all caps. Oh we heard that dog whistle loud and clear.”
Mazi Tochukwu wrote; “The word “BIAFRAN Boys” from an Official of Fed Rep of Nigeria has proven my argument that Igbo people have been at war with Nigeria for 54years now.
Nigeria is still fighting Biafrans till today and tomorrow.
All the detribalised Igbos but Okpo, you’ve been put in ur place.”
ItsKrison wrote; “If a non-Igbo Federal Government staff can freely, officially and openly call Igbos Biafran boys, why then are they shooting and arresting Igbo youths for calling themselves Biafrans?”
Ogbeni Dipo wrote; “The use of Biafran Boys (twice) in the statement by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) is vile and provocative. It’s basic dog whistling against Igbo people. Danladi Umar, chairman of the CCT should take responsibility for his actions and not deflect with this vile press release.”
@SF_Yusuf wrote; “I love the protuberant prejudicial profiling and ethnic-baiting in this grammatical challenged trash.
“BIAFRAN Boys.”
We are gradually splitting this country by our very own hands.”
Fola wrote; “They refer to certain citizens as “Biafran boys” in their heads and in their closets but they publicly shove down “one nigeria” and “detribalized” everyone else’s throats..
Then one day, they stopped caring. No more hiding in closets. The bigotry is documented in official comms”
@_therealib wrote; ““Biafran Boys” from the chairman of CCT simply highlights one thing:
The idea of one Nigeria is lip service
Men like him exemplifies what this government is about. He can’t be sacked.
Expect a promotion for Danladi Umar when his master returns from medical tourism.”
