A devastating windstorm has caused extensive damage across Mabudi, Sabon Gida, and other communities in the Langtang South local government area of Plateau State, destroying over 70 houses and yam barns.
IDOMA VOICE reports that the storm, which was accompanied a rainfall, left a wide trail of destruction in its wake.
A resident confirmed that approximately 70 houses had their roofs blown off, with several others collapsing due to the fierce winds.
Nanbol Nanzing, a resident from one of the affected communities, expressed his concern over the incident, urging the state government to assist the victims.
In response to the destruction, the chairman of Langtang South local government, Hon. Nanfa Nbin, confirmed the incident in a statement signed by his media aide, Mr. Iliya Bako. The statement revealed that the local emergency management committee, led by Deputy Chairman Hon. Julcit Musa, had visited the affected areas to assess the damage.
“The council chairman extends his sympathies to the victims and encourages them to accept the disaster as God’s will,” the statement concluded.
