The Executive Chairman Agatu Local Government Council, Hon Joseph Ngbede has called on Government at all levels, non-governmental organisations as well as spirited individuals to come to the aid of Agatu people, saying the untold hardship meted on the people especially the Oweto and other Riverine Residents could not be explained as houses submerged, farms, markets, hospitals and Schools have been destroyed as a result of the flooding.
Agatu Council Boss equally urged Riverine Residents to relocate to safer areas while expecting supports from Government and non-governmental organisations. According to him, situation of this nature requires safety of lives first, before any intervention.
It will be recalled that, Oweto and other Riverine areas in Agatu such as, Utugolugwu, Ocholonya, Akpeko, Abugbe, Adana, Alokpa, Ologbagishu, Obishu, Adeka-Olegodege, Oleje, Ebete, Ejima-Gega, Inminyi, Olegomakwu among others, have been taken over by flood which has affected the livelihood of Agatu people who are currently in dare need of interventions from the Government.
