Owukpa coal controversy: The struggle continues, they can’t cage me – Okwori Onaji roars after regaining freedom
I wish to use this medium to thank all those who rose to the occasion to defend me and my rights
during the unfortunate incidence of my illegal arrest and subsequent detention. I’m indeed very
honoured and humbled by your concern, solidarity and support throughout the period of my ordeal in
the hands of the State’s Agents of Coercion.
Be rest assured that your voices and actions have reverberated loudly and clearly in the defense of
justice, human dignity and human rights; and for the advancement of the Owukpa Community of
Benue State and its environs.
Indeed, they may have succeeded in battering and molesting the messenger but the message has even
gone further than my expectation that morning when I stood up for advocate for the the wellbeing of
the land of my ancestors. In fact, considering the inhumane treatments meted out to me, the fact that
my very life was not snatched away from me gives me a reason to be thankful. The message lives on,
what they did only helped propagating the message of peace, justice and fairness I had in geometric.
Our spirits remain steadfast; our resolve undaunted! we shall continue to agitate and speak up against
the conspiracy of the ruling class against the less privileged and the oppressed. Actually, we only just
began.
To my detractors I say : Thank you for helping me raise hundreds of Okwori Onajis in 4 days! You now
have several hundreds ,or even thousands, of peaceful agitators for social and environmental justice
in Owukpa land to deal with now. Good luck in getting rid of all of us!
As they say, little by little, freedom comes. No force on earth can stop an idea whose time has come!
Thanks.
