Oyedepo’s 70th birthday: Pastors donate food packs to over 5,000 less privileged
Several senior pastors have donated relief materials to over 5,000 underprivileged individuals in commemoration of Bishop David Oyedepo’s 70th birthday.
The initiative, led by Dr. Akin Akinpelu, a Senior Pastor of Eden Centre, took place during the event titled “Legacy of Bishop Oyedepo at 70,” held at the National Stadium in Lagos.
The event, which concluded late Sunday, was attended by the celebrant, Bishop Oyedepo, along with other notable pastors and ministers from the gospel community. Akinpelu explained that the aim was to honor Oyedepo with a crusade and concert, praising the Lord for His blessings in Oyedepo’s life and family.
Pastor Yemi David, Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Lagos, remarked that the program focused on honoring Oyedepo while also giving back to the needy.
“This is a collective effort of pastors in Lagos. Pastor Akinpelu was able to galvanize all of us together, and it is a laudable effort to honor Bishop Oyedepo,” he said. “My joy is to have a church that goes beyond Sunday services to engage in other activities like education, including establishing schools and universities.
This serves as encouragement for our younger generation to impact society beyond the church. Now that Oyedepo is 70, we decided to honor him and use this opportunity to bless those in need. We have thousands of food packs to distribute, and we are doing this on behalf of Oyedepo,” he added.
Earlier, Oyedepo expressed his delight at the celebration and prayed for the organizers and guests in attendance. “It is not enough to have Jesus as your Lord and Savior; He must be the center of your life. I have never prayed for a car or a house, but I know that if I prioritize Him, all other things will be added unto me.
The Bible says to seek first the kingdom, and all the things that others are striving for shall be added unto you,” he stated.
Notable ministers who graced the occasion included Poju Oyemade, Tope Alabi, Pastor Femi Lazarus, Pastor Sola Osunmakinde, Bidemi Olaoba, and others. One of the highlights of the concert was the cake-cutting ceremony, which featured Oyedepo alongside other prominent men of God.
