Oyo state announces restriction of movement on Saturday

The Oyo State Government has declared a temporary restriction on movement for the duration of Saturday’s local government election, as announced on Friday evening. This measure aims to facilitate the smooth conduct of the poll by officials of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

Scheduled for 8 am to 3 pm, the election will determine councillorship and chairmanship positions across the 33 local government areas of the State.

In a verified update posted on its official ‘x’ handle on Friday evening, the government stated: “Please take note of this important announcement regarding movement restrictions in Oyo State on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

“Total restriction of movement has been declared by the Oyo State Government for tomorrow, Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

“Exceptions to these restrictions apply only to providers of essential services.”
