Panic as Lago-Ibadan train breaks down in forest, Nigerians react

Fear has gripped passengers on Lagos-Ibadan railway movement as train suddenly stopped in a forest

Nigerians have reacted to the report of a train headed to Lagos from Ibadan, stopping in the middle of nowhere due to lack of fuel.

A Twitter user, Isaiah Obadare disclosed this via his Twitter page, @isaiahobadare on Thursday, stating that the train he boarded was stuck in the forest with unknown Chinese men.

“Boarded Train from Ibadan to Lagos. We’re still stuck in the forest with unknown Chinese Men. They said fuel finished. What a beautiful country, Nigeria,” he wrote.

His post gathered a lot of reactions as many Nigerians are surprised that the newly introduced trains are getting faulty.

Here are some of the reactions culled from Twitter:

@Diji_O wrote, “Next time before you board, ensure you check the fuel guage of the train. Since we have to do everyone’s job in this administration.”

@akinbadegroup wrote, “Nigeria with lack of maintenance culture, I have virtually bearded train to most part of UK not for ones we have a train break down, we can have cancellation or delays never a midway breakdown. Nigeria railway should be privatised, let privates run their coaches on the tracks”

@EasyOlatunde wrote, “Our maintenance culture is very poor but the rail transportation is great. I use it always, it’s up to the ministry of transportation to make sure it is well maintained. The govt have done it part in making it available, the person in charge should be held responsible.”

@C_CDon wrote, “Wait. They didn’t know the volume of diesel that will take them to Lagos before embarking on the journey?Which kind of poor logistics planning is this? My country!”

@FS_Yusuf_ wrote, “This train don reach 1 year so?”

@Martins_Afeni wrote, “They are not unknown. Chinese men are the train driver. I’m surprised fuel finished in the middle of the journey in a forest and I do use the train service o. This country sef. Just imagine that the train stopped at the base of kidnappers.”
