Panic buying: NNPC says there’s enough fuel in stock
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has insisted that it has two billion litres of petrol, in stock.
In a statement on Thursday, Mr Adeyemi Adetunji, Executive Vice President, Downstream, NNPC Limited, noted that with enough fuel in stock, it would cater for motorists and car owners for more than 30 days.
According to him, officials are currently monitoring massive loading from the depot to various destinations to reduce the long queue, adding that the NNPC has programmed vessels and trucks to unconstrained depots.
The statement noted that the recent queues in Lagos are largely due to ongoing road infrastructure projects around Apapa and access road challenges in the state.
He said the gridlock is easing out, adding that NNPC retail and key marketers had intensified dedicated loading into Abuja to restore normalcy.
He reassured Nigerians that NNPC has sufficient products, and it has significantly increased product loading in selected depots and extended hours at strategic stations to ensure sufficiency nationwide while also working with industry stakeholders to ensure normalcy is returned as soon as possible.
