There was tension in Delta State on Thursday after unknown gunmen shot dead the groom, son during a wedding ceremony.
The sad event reportedly happened in Udu, a community in the Udu Local Government Area of Delta.
People were still in merriment at old Ekete road, opposite Ghawan junction at about 6:00 pm in the evening when the assailants arrived and disrupted the event after shooting the groom.
The groom according to reports, had earlier in the day concluded his traditional marriage and people were still around when the gunmen arrived and killed him.
It was gathered that the incident scared traders, shop owners and residents away as some fled the area for fear of reprisal attacks.
The ugly situation was reported to the Ovwian Police Division for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the two corpses were said to have been deposited in an undisclosed morgue in Udu town.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, was not on the ground at the time to confirm the incident.
