General Overseer of the Household of God Church in Lagos, Pastor Chris Okotie has publicly declared his stand on taking a third wife after two failed marriages.
Okotie during an interview with BBC pidgin said he is not interested in getting married for the third time.
When asked if there was any chance of taking another wife, the cleric said Jesus had already told him that his journey of marriage has ended.
The flamboyant preacher and former presidential candidate noted that he never understood the will of God for his life when he got born again, adding that he has done all that he wanted for himself.
He said: “I’m not getting married again, I’m not getting married again because Jesus has already told me that one has ended. When I was saved, when I became born again, I was in the university at the time I did not understand the will of God for my life. I always said I wanted my own family and all that and I went and did what I wanted”
Chris Okotie Failed Marriages
In 2012, the clergyman announced the dissolution of his four years old marriage to Stephanie Henshaw during a church service.
The spokesman for the church, Ladi Ayodeji, who read the statement, said both parties decided after a careful review of the prevailing circumstances which pointed to the fact that it is the best option for them and has agreed to be silent on detailed reasons for the separation.
Okotie, who is a law graduate, had been divorced from his first wife, Tyna, for over two decades.
His first marriage to Tyna lasted for 17 years, but the union packed up without any child.
