The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has apprehended a 39-year-old Pastor Michael Ogundepo on charges related to an alleged visa scam.

In a statement released on Monday in Akure, DSC Aidamenbor Daniel, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), revealed that the suspect had received N1.67 million from one Miss Fagbuyiro Ajetomobi-Yemi for visa procurement.

Daniel further explained that Ogundepo, residing at No. 15 Ewu Agbo street, Ikorodu Lagos, not only took the money but also held onto the complainant’s passport for two months, preventing her from applying for another visa.

“The command had repeatedly invited the suspect, but he declined the invitation, claiming to be abroad and using a fake international number to contact the complainant to evade detection,” stated the NSCDC PRO.

He added, “The suspect was apprehended when he was summoned to collect the sum of N3,000,000 for a Visa job, unaware that it was a trap. Nevertheless, our investigation has uncovered that he defrauded several other unsuspecting clients.”

Daniel announced that once the investigation is completed, the suspect will face charges in court. The pastor’s actions are reportedly in violation of Section 419 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 37, Vol. 1 of Ondo State, 2006.
