Patrice Motsepe to officially launch Africa Super League
On Wednesday, August 10, 2022, Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), will officially introduce the much-awaited Africa Super League.
Several TV networks in Africa and other areas of the world, including CAF streaming platforms, CAFTV, will broadcast the event live from Arusha, Tanzania, at 13:00 Eastern African Time (EAT), 12:00 Cairo Time.
There has been a sense of expectation since the CAF President revealed the debut date of July 2022, as Africa gets ready for a new era that is proposed to alter the landscape of African football and the economic fortunes of the continent.
While it is reminiscent of the heavily criticised European Super League, which met with overwhelming backlash when it debuted last year, FIFA gave approval for CAF to organise the ASL as the continent aims to improve on funding and commercialisation of football.
