Patrick Doyle slams ‘I am a Chosen’ phrase as unchristian doctrine

Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has criticized the popular phrase “I am a Chosen,” often chanted by members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries.

His remarks come in response to social media debates surrounding viral testimonies from the church.

In a Facebook post, Doyle referred to the phrase as “nonsensical” and argued that it lacks Christian foundation. He asserted, “The phrase ‘I am a Chosen,’ should never be associated with the Body of Christ. The sect’s members don’t focus on Jesus but rather on their General Overseer, and the phrase has no connection to our Savior.”

He went on to express that attributing any Christian significance to the phrase mocks the faith. Doyle clarified that content creators using the phrase are not mocking Christianity but the religious sect and its leader.

His comments follow a recent call from fellow actor IK Ogbonna, who urged the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to address the issue of “fake miracles” in churches.

Similarly, actress Kemi Lala Akindoju criticized the church’s doctrine, and CAN itself condemned a viral testimony from the church in which a member claimed an “angel” helped her pass an exam.
