Pay Super Falcons their unpaid salary, bonuses – Super Eagles players tell NFF

The trio of Odion Ighalo, Victor Anichebe, and Victor Osimhen have joined their voices in a resounding call for justice. The Nigerian football stars have united to urge the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to honor their commitment and promptly pay the unpaid salaries and bonuses owed to the Super Falcons, who showcased commendable prowess in the tournament.

The plea comes hot on the heels of an announcement by FIFPRO, the global players union, which declared its unwavering support in assisting the players to reclaim their rightfully earned dues from the NFF. The Super Falcons’ triumphs on the world stage deserve recognition not only in words but also in fair compensation, an issue that has unfortunately plagued the nation’s football.

The bonus dispute overshadowed Nigeria’s World Cup preparations, but the players, displaying their dedication, chose to keep their concerns on hold until the conclusion of their Women’s World Cup journey. Now, as their campaign reaches its conclusion, the athletes are making their voices heard, demanding just compensation for their contributions on the field.

Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles and Napoli forward, vented his frustration via social media, urging the NFF to “Pay them @nffofficial,” accompanied by a disappointment emoji. Odion Ighalo, the former Manchester United striker, took a more reflective tone, sharing, “NFF never stop all these things,” on Twitter, hinting at a systemic issue that needs addressing.

Victor Anichebe, the former Everton striker, echoed the sentiments of his fellow footballers, urging the NFF to fulfill their obligations to the Super Falcons, who brought honor to the nation through their dedication and hard work. Anichebe stressed the importance of fairness, declaring, “NFF pay them! They did us all proud! And even if they didn’t. Pay them what they are owed!!!”
