PDP calls for investigation into alleged N25 trillion stolen by APC leaders

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Bola Tinubu to investigate and recover over N25 trillion allegedly stolen by leaders and government officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party made this call in a New Year message titled ‘Address Insecurity, Fuel, Food Crisis’, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

PDP also called on the President to address the critical challenges of insecurity, food, and fuel supplies to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.

While felicitating Nigerians on the dawn of 2025, the party urged Tinubu not to mar the new year with actions that fail to provide immediate and concrete steps to reduce fuel prices, tackle widespread hunger, and implement clear measures to guarantee the security of lives and property.

According to the party, previous addresses by the President over the last 18 months have focused solely on empty rhetoric, unsubstantiated statistics, false promises, fabricated performance claims, and the validation of flawed elections, without providing concrete solutions to insecurity, economic recovery, job creation, credible elections, or an improved standard of living for Nigerians.

The PDP maintained that President Tinubu must address issues such as unchecked corruption, deceit, budget padding, and reckless spending that funds the luxury of APC leaders.

“There has been insensitivity to the suffering of citizens and a total disregard for the government’s obligations, making life unbearable for Nigerians under his watch,” the party said.

The PDP also challenged President Tinubu to use his address to account for the billions of Naira reportedly generated from the removal of subsidies on petroleum products.

“Furthermore, Mr. President should fulfill his public commitment to fight corruption by ordering an investigation and recovery of the over N25 trillion allegedly stolen by APC leaders and government officials who have turned government agencies into Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) to siphon funds for their benefit, while the rest of the nation suffers from abject poverty, hunger, and starvation,” the party said.

The party also expressed concern over the failure of the APC government to revisit and address reports of state-backed killings in various parts of the country, particularly the 2020 EndSARS killings, and the inhumane denial of the massacre of promising Nigerian youths in that tragic and reprehensible incident.

Nevertheless, the PDP urged Nigerians to continue believing in the country.
