A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Charles Obule, passed away in Sapele Local Government Area. The late PDP leader, who also held the traditional title of “Erhi of Okpe Kingdom,” reportedly slumped and died on Tuesday after a prolonged illness at the age of 65.

Chief Charles Obule was widely recognized in Delta State as a former governorship and senatorial aspirant of the PDP and had played a significant role in the party’s affairs. He was also a well-known businessman and philanthropist, with a reputation for contributing to the development of his community.

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, expressed deep sadness over the loss of the renowned party chieftain, describing him as an astute politician, successful businessman, and compassionate philanthropist. The governor’s statement, conveyed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, praised Chief Obule’s contributions to the growth of the PDP in Sapele Local Government Area and Delta State as a whole.

Governor Oborevwori also highlighted Chief Obule’s achievements as a versatile lawyer and the founder of the Obule Group of Schools and Medical Centre, which provided quality education and healthcare services at subsidized costs to the people of Sapele and the Urhobo nation.

The passing of Chief Charles Obule is mourned not only by the PDP but also by the entire Delta State community, as he was a beloved figure who impacted the lives of many. The governor offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and all those affected by the loss, praying for comfort and strength during this difficult time.
