As reported by Vanguard, a delegation of five Governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Nyesom Wike, including four former governors and one serving governor, held a late-night meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
The gathering was preceded by a meeting at the residence of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja. Following this, Wike led his former colleagues to the Presidential Villa for a discussion with President Tinubu.
Although the specifics of the meeting were not fully disclosed at the time of reporting due to its late hour, the primary topic of discussion revolved around the working relationship between the President and the former governors.
An anonymous source with knowledge of the meeting stated, “The G-5 PDP Governors first met in Wike’s residence for a few hours before heading to the Villa to meet with the President. The exact details of what was discussed aren’t available at the moment, but based on the discussions during the initial meeting at Wike’s residence, the focus was on finding roles for the former governors in the political landscape and exploring opportunities for collaboration.”
The source further noted that the former governors met with President Tinubu just a day before the commencement of the Imo State PDP governorship campaign in Owerri and amid rising tensions regarding the party Secretary’s position.
The delegation included former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Abia State’s former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and the serving Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
