PDP group endorses David Mark for president

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) group, Mark for 2019, has called on the former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, to declare interest for Presidency in 2019 forthwith.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP in an interview, yesterday, the national coordinator of the group, Ali Kano, said PDP would not be shopping for credible candidate for the 2019 presidential election when it had a loyal member with impeccable character as Senator Mark.
Kano, who was a delegate to the 2014 National Confab and member of      PDP presidential campaign in 2015, noted that the party does not need political nomads like Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso, who are currently being wooed to return to the fold to run for 2019.

He said he would lead the 36 state coordinators of Mark for 2019 to prevail on the former Senate President, Senator David Mark, to run for the Presidency.

“David Mark is a disciplined military officer, an astute politician who is tested and trusted. He is a thorough bred politician who has more actions in him than words. What’s more, he has the political sagacity and wherewithal to lead PDP to victory.

“He presided over the National Assembly for eight years without blemish or blame. He avoided the banana peels brought down his predecessors. Nigerians will always remember him for saving our country from constitution crisis during Yar’Adua’s administration, when he came up with Doctrine of Necessity.

“Mark has never, since the inception of the PDP, left the party; for 19 years, he has remained faithful and loyal to the party. He has shown that he is not a fair-weather politician,” Kano said.

The one-time NANS Senate President further noted that amidst a seemingly divided nation along ethnic, religious and political lines, Senator Mark appears to be the only politician of repute who has a national appeal across all the divides.
