PDP remains largest party in sub-Saharan Africa — Fintiri
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the largest political party in sub-Saharan Africa, saying it has played a major role in his personal and political achievements.
Fintiri stated this on Monday in Abuja during a meeting of the protocol committee ahead of the PDP national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He said preparations for the convention were ongoing, including the compilation of the delegates’ list, and assured members of a transparent and credible process.
“We are fully committed and making the necessary sacrifices to ensure a successful convention,” Fintiri said. “We will not let this party down. The calibre of leaders to emerge from the next National Working Committee will reflect the strength and unity of the PDP.”
He urged aspirants to test their popularity at the polls, adding that all qualified contestants who met the party’s requirements would be screened fairly.
“We will not deny anyone the opportunity to contest. Those supported by the majority will emerge victorious,” he said.
Fintiri reaffirmed confidence in the party’s internal structures, stressing that the upcoming convention would demonstrate that the PDP remains strong and organized.
Chairman of the convention’s protocol subcommittee and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, commended members for their commitment and mobilisation efforts, expressing optimism that the party would reclaim its place as Nigeria’s leading opposition platform.
