PDP still Nigeria’s biggest political brand – Senator Abba Moro

Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and serving as the Senate Minority Leader, has reaffirmed his confidence in the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) roadmap to regain political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Tuesday, May 27, 2027, at Legacy House in Maitama, Abuja, Senator Moro said members of the PDP caucus in the National Assembly are fully aligned with the party’s leadership in its mission to rebuild and reposition the party.
“We have complete confidence in the lineup of activities initiated by the party leadership, which will culminate in a successful national convention,” he said.
The lawmaker noted that now is the right time to reassure party members, supporters, and Nigerians who believe in democracy that the PDP is on its way back to national relevance.
While acknowledging the recent wave of defections that has affected the party, Senator Moro described them as temporary setbacks. He emphasized that despite these challenges, the PDP remains the largest and most deeply rooted political brand in Nigeria.
“The ideals and vision that define the PDP will continue to resonate with Nigerians. We are confident that the PDP will be the party to beat in 2027,” Moro said.
He also reminded party faithful of the PDP’s humble beginnings with just 16 founding members, who came together without the backing of any president, governors, or lawmakers to build a party committed to democratic values and good governance.
“Today, we are much more than 34,” he stated. “From every challenge, including defections, we will rise stronger. Nigeria deserves an alternative, and that alternative is the PDP.”
The NEC meeting was attended by members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the Board of Trustees (BoT), PDP governors, leaders of the National Assembly caucus, and other key stakeholders.
