Peace Corps Commandant, Akoh gets another appointment

The North Central People’s Forum, yesterday, appointed the National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Dr Dickson Akoh as the National Cordinator and Chairman Youth Empowerment and Development Committee of the forum.

Head of delegation of the Forum, Alhaji Saliyanu Bagge said, the Board of Trustees noted with delight, the good track records and contributions to the development of youth activities in Nigeria.

He added that Dr Akoh’s zeal to make the youth of Nigeria become a productive sector in order to contribute their quota to the progress of the Nation was highly commendable.

He stressed the need for the inclusiveness of the North Central Region in the nation’s polity, adding that just as every other region in Nigeria has a regional body fronting its activities, the North Central region formed this body.

Rear Admiral Christopher Suleiman (Rd), a BoT member who was part of the delegation, said it was necessary to have birthed the North Central People’s forum to galvanise support for the region to take its central place in Nigeria’s affairs.

Other members of the delegation are:
Hon. Audu Sule, Publicity Secretary, Hon. Kasir Ajana immediate past House of Rep. Member, Hon. Nuhu-Deen Omar and Omachi Jonah.

In his response Dr Dickson Akoh thanked them for appointing him, while assuring them that he will do all within his might and to mobilise the youths in the region and galvanise their potentials towards positive ventures, peace and development of the nation.

While applauding the delegation, Dr Akoh said “Peace Corps of Nigeria has taught him how social struggle transformed the society and charged them to remain steadfast and committed to the course of the forum as they may be challenges along the line.

Dr Akoh’s mandate is to coordinate youth leaders within the 6 states including FCT in the North Central Region.
