The Honorable Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Useni Useni today the 30th of August, 2016, received in his Office, delegations of the National Executive Council of the #PeaceCorpsofNigeria led by the National Commandant, Amb (Dr) Dickson A.O. Akoh.
While affirming his total support for the Corps, he requested that the National Commandant and his Management Council draw up a proposal with a view to how the Peace Corps of Nigeria can bring about lasting peace across the Niger Delta Region. The Honourable Minister expressed confidence on the Corps for being a needed stimulant for enduring peace and asserted that whenever the organisation requires the guardians, services and support of the Ministry of Niger Delta, it would gladly be available.
Dr Dickson Akoh earlier addressed the Honorable Minister and disclosed that Peace Corps of Nigeria is fully represented in all the Local Government Areas cut across States of the Niger Delta region.
While substantively revealing the extent of support that the Peace Corps of Nigeria has given the Security Agencies across the Niger Delta region, he enumerated on the magnitude of work and accomplishments achieved by State Commandants and Officers of the seven Niger Delta States. The Ambassador thus noted that the Corps would be more effective after the Federal Government gives statutory backing to the Organization.

Expressing his gratitude, he stated that the Corps will graciously present the proposal on lasting peace as directed and will not relent in her efforts in youth empowerment, training and reorientation.
