Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel music minister, Osinachi Nwachukwu, was absent on Saturday as his wife was laid to rest in her country home in Abia State.

The singer, who died on April 8, 2022, due to alleged domestic violence, was reportedly brutalized to death by her husband.

The burial rites of the deceased commenced on Tuesday with a praise night in her honour at the Michael Okpara Square in Enugu State.

Her remains were committed to mother earth in her hometown in Isochi Umunneochi community in Abia.

The burial was attended by her children, twin sister, Amarachi Eze, fellow music ministers, political leaders as well as clerics from Dunamis International Gospel Centre and other denominations.

The husband, Peter Nwachukwu was, however, absent as he is in detention over his alleged role in the death of his wife.

Speaking earlier, Pastor Solomon Ipila, Regional Pastor of Dunamis South East, who stood for the senior pastor, Dr Paul Enenche said the body of Christ would miss the late singer.

Following the allegations against Nwachukwu, the police had arrested him and was charged for allegedly committing the crime that contravenes Sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, (ACJA) 2015, Section 221 of the Penal Code and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act (VAPP) 2015.

Amid the allegations, Nwachukwu had denied brutalizing Osinachi to death, stressing that she died of lung cancer.

Despite his denial, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court had remanded Nwachukwu in Kuje Correctional Facility.
