1. Peter Obi, presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), says he would not “victimise or witch hunt” previous government if elected into office in the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking with journalists on Friday after unveiling Datti Baba-Ahmed, founder of Baze University, as his running mate for the poll, Obi said he is only interested in blocking leakages and moving the country forward.
2. The Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Ahmed Datti, has said he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because of his stance on not paying delegates during primaries.
Mr Datti, who is the running mate to Peter Obi, said he withdrew from the governorship race In Kaduna State because he refused to pay delegates to vote for him. He said the leader of the PDP in Kaduna became ‘afraid of him’.
3. Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide, Reno Omokri, has said Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate should be held responsible if any mishap happens to him or any of his family members.
Omokri raised the alarm over his safety and family members in a tweet.
4. The Co-convener of BringBackOurGirls Movement, Aisha Yesufu, yesterday accused the Federal Government of planning to derail the 2023 election campaign of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, with false allegations.
Yesufu also accused other parties of gang-up against Obi’s supporters.
5. Acleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has described the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), as noisemakers who cannot win presidency in the 2023 general elections.
Primate Ayodele said this on Saturday while addressing journalists in his church in Lagos State during the release of his annual prophecies, “Warnings to the Nations,” Daily Post reports.
6. Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has said tribalism and religion are some of the reasons Nigeria has remained as the world’s capital of poverty.
Obi lambasted former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP Rabiu Kwankwaso, saying the NNPP candidate has been playing on ethnicity and religion at the expense of competence and focus on rescuing the country’s economy.
7. Concerned Nigerians for the protection of Human Rights and Rule of Law Initiative has condemned petitions by supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate to ban dissenting voices.
The group, in a statement by its spokesperson, Theophilus Agada, berated the supporters of Obi for calling on social media platforms to ban Reno Omokri, Omoyele Sowore, Deji Adeyanju, Sega Awosanya and other opposition voices in the country.
8. Residents of Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State yesterday came out in their thousands to register their support for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, by holding a peaceful road march.
The march which started from the popular Total roundabout in Nsukka Local Government Area to Odenigbo junction through Ugwuoye junction and other major roads in Nsukka town saw the presence of both youths and the elderly to show their support for the Labour party presidential candidate in the 2023 election.
9. Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party has sent their goodwill messages to the Muslim community on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He urged the Muslims to emulate the righteousness and virtues of Prophet Muhammad, adding that the essence of the celebration was to offer sacrifice, express and extend love to one another.
10. Prof. Pat Utomi, the Convener of The Big Tent of the Third Force and a leader in the Labour Party, has revealed how the party will safeguard votes for Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election.
Utomi while speaking in Lagos on Friday said The Big Tent of the Third Force and the Labour Party (LP) plan to deploy at least 15 agents each to polling booths in the country to help safeguard votes.
