Peter Obi vs Tinubu: INEC makes shocking revelations about 2023 election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has unveiled its report on the 2023 general election, continuing its longstanding tradition of transparency over the past four electoral cycles.

This announcement was made through a statement by Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

Olumekun emphasized that the release of the Report highlights the election’s unprecedented diversity in party representation, marking significant strides in Nigeria’s democratic landscape.

The 2023 general election witnessed a notable shift in political representation across the nation, with four political parties securing gubernatorial victories, seven parties claiming senatorial seats, eight emerging victorious in federal constituencies, and nine triumphing in State legislatures.

The comprehensive 526-page document, structured into 13 chapters and enriched with 60 tables, 14 boxes, and 10 graphs, provides an extensive analysis of the election’s core processes, accomplishments, and challenges. It also offers valuable insights and lessons learned from the electoral exercise.

“In keeping with our commitment to transparency, the Commission, during its weekly meeting on Thursday, 22nd February 2024, reviewed and approved the publication of the 2023 General Election Report,” the statement partly read.

The Report emphasizes the crucial role played by technological advancements, notably the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), in bolstering electoral integrity and combating fraud. Addressing concerns surrounding the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal, the document clarifies the technical issues encountered during the uploading of polling unit results for the presidential election.

The INEC has made the Report readily accessible on its official website and various social media platforms for public scrutiny and engagement.
