Pitso Mosimane parts ways with Egyptians giants Al Ahly

Egyptians giants Al Ahly and Pitso Mosimane have parted ways after nearly two years in charge of the club.

Mosimane joined Al Ahly in 2020, and his stint with the Reds saw massive success on both continental and international levels.

The 57-year-old led the club to three CAF Champions League finals, of which he won two.

He had also led the team to two consecutive FIFA Club World Cup bronze medals, two CAF Super Cup victories, in addition to an Egypt Cup and an Egyptian Super Cup coronations.

“Al Ahly and Mosimane reached an agreement to part ways,” the club said in statement released on Monday.

“Mahmoud El-Khatib, the club’s president, held a meeting with Yassin Mansour, the chairman of Al Ahly football company, Hossam Ghaly, the club’s board member, and the planning committee members, to discuss Mosimane’s future with the club.

“During the meeting, They all decided that he should continue his mission with Al Ahly as a result of the achievements he managed to accomplish during the previous period.

“However, during the meeting that was previously held, Mosimane requested to leave and that he is satisfied with the achievements he managed to accomplish with the club.

“Later on, Mosimane’s decision was discussed and it was decided to approve his request to part ways with the club and to thank him for the achievements that he accomplished with the club.”

Al Ahly have announced that previous assistant manager Samy Komsan will take charge of the club as interim manager.
