Please come back to Christianity, don’t abandon it — Akume’s wife begs him after taking another wife

Regina Akume has advised her husband, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to remain steadfast in Christianity, stressing that the faith was responsible for how far he has come in life and public service.

Mrs. Akume made the statement while speaking to journalists in Makurdi, Benue State, on Sunday, December 28, 2025, after she was asked about her prayers and wishes for her husband on the occasion of his 72nd birthday.

According to her, abandoning Christianity for any other belief would not bring success, noting that their family’s journey and achievements were anchored on faith in Jesus Christ.

“He should remember that he is a Christian and it’s Christianity that brought him this far. And so to drop Christianity now and to go for anything, he will not be successful. So my advice to him is to come back to Christianity and follow the line of Christ.

“We came all the way to SGF, it is not through any means, but through Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ is still alive and still working, doing things for us. I wish that he will come back to Christianity,” she said.

She further hinted that the political journey towards 2027 had become smoother, saying “the house is now divided into two.
