The Abia State Police have successfully rescued three kidnap victims, Azubuike Okorie, Oluebube Nwafor, and Ekene Ike, from a kidnap den in Umunneochi council area. The rescue operation took place following a raid at a bush in Lekwesi community.
Two male suspects, Abubakar Tukur and Ibrahim Sandari, were apprehended in connection with the kidnapping incident.
Acting on credible intelligence, the police, led by the Divisional Police Officer Isuochi and other operatives, launched the operation in the Lekwesi bush near Lokpanta. During the operation, they arrested Tukur and Sandari, leading to the rescue of the three victims, Ike, Okorie, and Nwafor.
It was later confirmed that the rescued victims hailed from Egwueme community in Enugu State.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Abia State Command, SP Maureen Chinaka, made a statement confirming the successful rescue and arrest. She also revealed that one of the arrested kidnapping suspects, Abubakar Tukur, admitted to being a younger brother to another kidnapping suspect already in custody.
