Police arrest 25-year-old for stabbing father to death in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command is investigating a 25-year-old man, Chibunna Chiemelie, who allegedly stabbed his father to death at their home on Oba Kabiru Street, Isolo, Lagos.

Chiemelie was arrested following a report made by his father neighbor to the Aswani Police Division.

Confirming the incident, Lagos Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect confessed to the crime after his arrest.

According to Hundeyin, “The incident occurred on October 3, 2024, at around 9:30 pm, when a complainant reported to the Aswani Division that he had received a call from his father’s neighbour.”

“The neighbour informed him that his father, Mr Chiemelie, aged 68, was in an altercation with his son. The complainant rushed to the residence and found his father’s lifeless body in a pool of blood, which led to the police report” he added.

“Police officers were dispatched to the scene, where a blood-stained knife was discovered near the deceased. Photographs of the scene were taken, and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Isolo, where he was pronounced dead”.

The suspect was arrested soon after and admitted to the killing during questioning. The body has been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary, and the investigation is ongoing.
