The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended four individuals allegedly involved in supplying military and police uniforms to bandits and terrorist groups operating in the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. He revealed that one of the suspects was arrested on November 19 during a routine patrol along the Yantumaki-Kankara highway in Danmusa Local Government Area.
The suspect was found with two pairs of military uniforms hidden in a black polythene bag. Further investigations led to the arrest of three additional suspects identified as Lawal Ahmad, 29, and Isma’il Dalhatu, 24, both from Basawa Quarters, Sabon Gari, Zaria, Kaduna State, and Shafi’u Adamu, 28, from Danjaba Village, Soba LGA, Kaduna State.
A total of 14 pairs of military uniforms and one police uniform were recovered, believed to have been intended for delivery to armed bandits for criminal operations in Katsina State.
The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation and will face charges in court after the investigation is concluded.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, praised the operatives for their dedication and professionalism, which led to the arrests. He urged residents to continue providing useful information to help combat banditry and terrorism in the state.
